Casein paint is a quick-drying, aqueous medium using a milk-based binding agent, and is one of the most durable mediums known to man. Richeson Shiva Casein Artist Colors are fast-drying, re-workable, and watersoluble but become insoluble with time.This versatile paint has the wash capabilities of watercolor, the smooth opacity of tempera and gouache, and the richer textures of oils and acrylics. The brilliant color dries to a velvety matte finish making it ideal for illustration and reproduction work. They can also be buffed with a soft cloth for a satin finish, or varnished for a gloss finish.

This professional casein paint can be used on paper, canvas, interior walls, metal, wood, glass, or ceramics. Use for sketches, illustration, painting, underpainting, and more. The surface is brittle when dry so rigid surfaces are recommended, but thin washes can be used successfully on canvas. Nine thousand year old casein cave paintings have been discovered in Asia, and later, the medium was used by Byzantine, Roman, and Renaissance artists including the Old Masters, so you know these paints are made to last.

Chromium Oxide Green- This muted green earth color is very opaque and cool. It mixes well with other colors without overpowering them. Useful in a landscape palette and as a complement to earth red colors.
